
Sakena Washington is a freelance writer and a member of the writing team for the Goalkeepers, an initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She previously served as the director of communications for the office of the provost at Carnegie Mellon University. There, she provided vision and direction for key communications and priorities, including speeches, presentations, and web content. She also has years of experience working with website owners across the university to help them manage their online content and think strategically about business goals, audience, accessibility and user experience. Washington earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Clark Atlanta University and her MFA in creative writing from Antioch University. Her essays have appeared in Huffington Post, Rewire, and Brevity. Sakena began partnering with PRG in 2021.
